My wife, Elaine, is a 3rd grade teacher with the Cajon Valley Unified School District. Having taught primary grade students for nearly 20 years, she is a valuable resource for information on the who, what, and how of educational changes impacting the classroom. She has a B.A. degree from the School of Social Work at San Diego State University, and earned a Masters in Education in Instructional Leadership from National University.
Her daughter Kristi is also involved in education as an Enrollment Manager with Ashford University, supervising a team of advisors facilitating others to continue their college education. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology.
My parents, Jim and Peggy, live in Vista. Having raised 6 boys, my mother enjoys a well deserved relaxing lifestyle today, while my father, retired from a 22 year career in the Marines, still enjoys working at his specialized wood business.
My brothers and I were taught in both private and public schools. 4 of us have earned our college degrees, while the other 2 have developed very successful business careers in their respective trades. I enjoy being an uncle to 14 nieces and nephews.
My "extended family" is very full with a variety of friends from many walks of life. From plumbers to lawyers, from DJ's to mid-wives, and from secretaries to teachers, I have been given an abundance of wealth where it really counts, in my friends. The only misfortune among this group is exemplified in the quote from “The Hobbit”: "I do not know half of you as well as I would like, and I do not know the other half of you as well as you deserve".
